June 11, 2009: The Knit 'N Needle Nook in Mt. Dora closed its doors today. This marks the end of this icon of the Mt. Dora business community. We will be re-opening in the Orlando area in the near future under our new name "The Knitting Patch." However, we have made spoecial arrangements to accommodate our customers during this interim period. Accordingly, please call us at 407-331-5648 to make an appointment. We will continue to offer our classes during this interlude as well. You will continue to enjoy unprecedented savings on all your purchases during this time.
We want to thank all of our many loyal customers for your support and encouragement. We look forward to serving you in the future.
May 4, 2009: Due to some issues regarding lease terms of our previously announced new location, we are saddened to report that we are having to continue our search for a new location. While we never really stopped this search, we were very confident that we had found the perfect location. It is our plan to remain in the proximity of our announced new location in Casselberry.
April 28: Knit 'N Needle Nook has been in business at the same location in Mt. Dora for the past 49 years, and is the second oldest retail establishment in the city. It was the result of the creativity of Barbara Sheddan, the original founder of the store. Barbara operated the store until the fall of 2007, when her health failed. Even during her darkest hours, she would visit the store as she got so much from being there, and she so loved knitting and everything associated with it.
As we announced earlier this year, the Knit 'N Needle Nook is entering its final week. The store will be closing at the end of this month. Simply stated, there is not enough business in Mt. Dora to justify from a business perspective having a store in that location. When we took over Knit 'N Needle Nook from Barbara Sheddan in January of 2007, the rent for the store effectively doubled over night. Moreover, there are many additional issues indigenous to Mt. Dora such as the lack of parking that makes operation of a business nearly impossible. We have thoroughly enjoyed being in Mt. Dora for the past 2+ years and we genuinely have many regrets about moving from the area. However, business dictates that a move is necessary.
We hope to be open later in May, with our grand opening in late June. We already have our new website: www.knittingpatch.com. We are equally please with our new "look" and logo:

At The Knitting Patch, we will have a significantly larger store, and this will enable us to carry many more lines of yarn, and a far more comprehensive selection of those yarns. We will be featuring large inventories of the following yarns: Prism; Louet, Lorna's Laces, Ironstone, Trendsetter, Sassy Skein, K1 C2, Alchemy. We will be expanding the inventory of some of our traditional yarns including: Tilli Tomas, Great Adirondack, NORO, Blue Herron, Rowan, Jaeger, Jagger, Karabella, Dale of Norway, Cherry Tree, Farmhouse, Sirdar, Louisa Harding, Tivoli, Debbie Bliss and many more. Our extensive selection of sock yarns will be without peer anywhere. We plan to have a complete in stock inventory of Prism and Tilli Tomas to the point of stocking their entire product lines (not quite but almost) in almost all offered colors. In needles we will continue to feature Jenkins Woodworking, Lantern Moon & Skacel, and will be stocking these in all sizes.
Over the past few months many of our customers have been incredibly supportive of me, and voiced excitement about our planned move to the Orlando area. To everyone who has been supportive I want to thank you. Your support and encouragement have been a source of inspiration, and has motivated me beyond my belief. We have been planning this move since last fall. However, finding a suitable location that provided the unique mix of "location", visibility, parking, security and affordability has been challenging. Cambridge Oaks plaza embodies all that is important, especially in the criteria we used. Accross the street is the new public park and lakeside park, which is beautiful. Clearly 17/92 is a convenient location with great access from anywhere in the Central Florida area. From the perspective of security the Casselberry Police Department is location diagonally accross the street just to the south of the lakeside park and recreation area.
When we open, there will still be much to be done, so we beg your understanding while the new store is completed and new inventory is received. When we are finished with this, we are confident that The Knitting Patch will be amongst the finest knitting stores in the southeast. Based upon the survey of our customers, we will also be hosting the "Friday Night Knitting Club" every Friday evening. This will provide a perfect environment to meet, and just enjoy knitting, and the fellowship that knitting inspires. In planning for this transition we have tried to create the most positive environment, and the most comprehensive inventory of knitting supplies anywhere. We have also tried to make this convenient for you.
We will continue to post updates on our website. We hope to see you soon in Mt. Dora where you can take advantage of our ongoing moving sale, where you will save 35% on all of your yarn purchases. This sale continues until we close Knit 'N Needle Nook. There is not much time left, so stop by and stock up for those projects you are planning.
Again, we want to thank all of our customers. We look forward to serving you in Casselberry at The Knitting Patch.

January 22, 2009: We apologize for the delays in updatoing our website. We encountered some technical issues which were just resolved.
The response to the book, Knitted Lace of Estonia has been phenominal. We have placed our 4th order for this book, but it is currently on back-order to the publisher awaiting more copies from printing. This is a must have for ther serious knitter. Stop by the store and have a look at this book, and reserve your copy. They sell out as quickly as they arrive.
